
Students to discuss preservation of democracy at 2022 ABOR Regents’ Cup debate competition
WHAT: The “preservation of democracy” is the theme for the ݮƵ’ annual Regents’ Cup, in which students from Arizona’s public universities will compete in a rigorous debate competition celebrating free speech, civil discourse and democratic engagement.
Students participating in the Regents’ Cup will compete in a debate and speech competition during a competitive tournament that showcases the universities’ commitment to uphold the intrinsic rights of all students to freedom of speech. Participants in the Regents’ Cup compete for scholarships to advance their education at the universities.
Arizona’s public universities are recognized as exemplars in free speech; Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University and the University of Arizona are all recognized with the highest “ from FIRE (the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education).
WHO: Students from Arizona’s public universities will participate in the day-long Regents’ Cup. Event judges include leaders from government, industry and academia.
